Title: Osakazuki Grown by Etsuji Kobayashi
Bonsai History
Called "Bonsai"(tree in a pot or
tray) in Japan. Its idea came from
China during 794-1191 with other arts &
cultures. Bonsai was first introduced
to western countries at the Paris Exhibition
in 1878.
In the early years, many westerners felt
that the trees looked tortured by Bonsai
masters and this opinion had not been changed
until 1935. After the World War II, Bonsai
started being popular in the western
countries with the soldiers returning from
Japan with Bonsai.
Nowadays you can find Bonsai shaped plants
at many places where garden supplies are
sold. But those are young cuttings but not
the real Bonsai plants produced by Bonsai
masters.
It takes a long time(sometimes over 100years
or even 200years) to grow and develop high
quality Bonsai.
